YAY VALENTINES DAY!

Anywho today i worked with the penenat. In other words the flag holder. So what i had to do was look up specs for it. I then learned that the flag had to stick out from the top of the robot at least 18 inches. The flag holder itself is 1 foot. So then i relized it was hard to attach this holder since our robot doesnt really have a firm spot. I found a space, that i can put a piece off wood in. With that i can zip tie the flag holder onto that piece of wood. I set out to find a piece of wood that could be attached. I drilled a couple of holes and THERE we were done.

After i finished that, Mr. Rupert and I started brainstorming how to hold the ramp in place during game time. Then when it needs to be release it would be removed easily. We thought of a pulley system but haven't thought of anything good yet.

PIZZA IS GOD - Feb 7-8, 2007

Tuesday 2/7 - Well today what our goal was to work on the arm that was not scoring. We were going to use an arm that would help open the ramp. We wanted this arm to put the ramp down from its orginal position, and having the ramp flip open be another step. First we had Maya, and Summer look up what the torque was on each of the motors. We needed at least 20NM in order to open the ramps. We came to the conclusion that Fisher Price motor was good enough to do the job. While Summer and Maya were looking up the specs on the motors, Kyle and I brain stormed of way how to mount the motors onto the chassis, or a way to get the motor to work with the arm. Kyle had an idea about having a rotating shaft. While i had an idea that included a worm gear and a sprocket. We soon just decided to attach two aluminium bars across the chassis. Then we were going to figure out what to do tomorrow.

Weds. 2/8 - We walked in with a huge list to do. Am not sure if we got it done. One thing that i wanted was PIZZA. So a couple of the students and I put in some money to get pizza for those that were staying later. While that was going on, were had to figure out how to attach the fisher price motors onto the 2 bars. We haven't yet to figure that out, but will very soon. Then I started to file the arm joint. So that when it went together it was smooth. Scott number B also explained to me how he was able to create this arm joint out of aluminium. Then after that he gave me the task of trying to screw on the motor onto the scoring arm. Since the holes for the motors were off, I had to file the holes longer. So that the motor could be mounted on. THE END.

DRIVE TRAIN 1/26 and 1/29 - Melody

FRI 1/26:I learned how to break a chain and I put one of the chain on one of the wheels. I also learned not to cook spam for a 1 minute and 30 seconds because it turned out to be a little crispy. we ordered a hot water dispenser to appease our instant noodle, tea and coffee needs. I mounted the chains and the wheels onto the frame,

Mon 1/29:I pulled out tensions from the old robot model to use on our new robot thsi year. I cut aluminum L brackets and drilled them. I also learned, yet again, that safety glasses are very important because the metal shavings shall hit my eyes. I also was hyper on SPAM and chewy bars to the point where i grew closer to my team member's friends. I realized how important communication was between people.

SPAM! January 24 2007

Yesterday (January 23, 2007)
I spent most of the day trying to assemble the gear box. This took awhile because we had a hard time trying to find the correct Alan wrench to unscrew the screw. The problem we had was most of the alan wrenches were becoming round. So that took up most of the time. I stayed after school later than usual to finish it. Thats when we ran into another problem, with the gears touching the cylinder. With that the gears would create friction, and that we don't want. So then we filed down the key so that the gears would be lower.

Today (January 24,2007)
We talked about how we were going to saw the frame of the metal. Which had to be cut at a 45 degree angle so that we can maximize welding. Then after that I had a quest to feed people with spam! With that I had to bargain with Mr.Rupert for slices of bread. We came to the conclusion that I had to give him a slice of SPAM for a slice of bread. Which worked great! I mircowaved the SPAM at 2 minutes then I started to eat and feed people. After I had fullfiled my quest. I set out to get some work done. We cut the frame so that we have 3 feet of metal from tip to tip of the angle.
